Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist S02E05 - Maybe if you didn't care so much, it wouldn't hurt so much
Choosing happiness does not seems to work on Zoey as she did not end up joyful after practicing choosing happiness in her life. At the end of the last episode, she met her old friend, Aiden. They hit it off real quick, and they have been hanging out together for some time now. Aiden is a carefree man that does not seem to care about the things in his life and he is doing pretty great. Zoey wants to be like him, so she decides to take a day off to experience being a rebel by trying to do something she has never done. But who would say this is a wild day if it is just ticking things off the bucket list. Aiden makes a counter suggestion saying that they can do drugs together. Zoey was not so sure about it, but she is persuaded by Aiden to give it a try. When the drugs kick in, Zoey is feeling high and a bit unconscious of the surroundings. Much to her surprise, her boss calls in and would like to have an urgent meeting with her at her house. She was so afraid that she would ruin the whole thing up if she is still on drugs. Advised by Aiden, Zoey goes with the flow and have fun with her boss while taking drugs together. With the effect by drugs, unconscious Zoey starts to complain how unfair the life is when she gets stressed out by caring so many things around her. She starts to wonder what her life would be if she can care less. As pointed out by Max, being indifferent is the complete opposite of Zoey's character, because her being caring is one of the reasons he fell in love with her. Her words do influence her boss to start thinking about what he has been doing though she did not mean to. Her boss wants to live his life by selling his company, which is definitely not the consequence that Zoey was expecting.
Mo and Max thought investors would be keen on their project, but it turns out no one wants to invest in their business. Max's dad is quite a rich person, so Mo suggests Max to ask his dad to invest their business. They do a little presentation for Max's dad, but their product obviously does not impress him so much. In spite of that, Max's dad is willing to invest in their business. Max should be glad about it, but he's not. Max needs that capital to run the business but what he wants more is his dad's support. He decides to turn it down immediately as the cheque does not come out of genuine interest of their business but just because Max is his son. Maggie is mad at Jenna for pranking her client, so Jenna decides to leave. Max is asked by his boss to defend the product's malfunctioning, but he would like defend the justice more.
Caring people is one of qualities of a good person. It is definitely not wrong to care for the things around us, but making time for self-care is important as well. Don't be so hard on yourself.
Enjoy life, take each day as it comes, go with the flow
She cared so much about my dad. We all did. And none of that changed anything. All it led to was a bunch of people being devastated. That's the price of caring.
We give and we give to the things we love only to end up feeling empty. Well, I can't do it anymore. I need to live my life. I need to figure out who I am away from all this.
