The Ultimate Playlist of Noise - It is dumb to want to be a rockstar 'cause you already are one

Marcus is a normal high school student living who loves music so much, just like his brother, Alex. Few years ago, there's a fire in his house, and Alex died saving Marcus. Therefore, Marcus carries Alex's headphone around. He wears 2 headphones walking around, so he can hear music and ambient sound at the same time. He also excels at making playlist for others to suit their needs.

He goes to a school concert with his friends, and he loves the sound of the singers in the openers when he first hears it. All of a sudden, he has a seizure and falls down. He is diagnosed as having brain tumor, and he has to undergo a brain surgery but the cost is losing his hearing. He can't really imagine what his life would be without hearing because of his love of music. As he loves crafting playlists, he decides to make one for himself before losing the hearing. He takes out his brother's recorder and accidentally discovers a studio's business card. He learns that his brother has demo there after calling them, so he is going to have a road trip to New York and along the way he will record the noise and make a playlist. His mom can't bear losing another child, so she doesn't allow him to go. She would rather want him to learn the sign language within the month before the surgery. To him, he only cares about how much time is left when he can still hear. He really wants to make it, so he takes the car and begins his journey. Soon after he starts driving, he almost knocks down a girl crossing the road, who is the girl sings in the opener. She is Wendy, and her ex-boyfriend wants to sell her guitar, so she runs away. They both want to go to New York, so they decide to go on this road trip together. They share similar musical style, so they hit it off right away. After learning he is going to be deaf, she is willing to help him to record the noise. On the road, they have done some pretty crazy things together, but they really have fun hanging out. He eventually falls in love with her, but he clearly knows that she is out of his league.

In New York, Marcus is able to find the musician who worked with his brother before and gets to listen the demo he used to record. However, the most surprising thing Marcus learns about is the fact that Alex didn't die saving him. Indeed, Alex was diagnosed as having bipolar since he was young, and he sometimes did things that's not quite like him. He wasn't the one saving Marcus from the accident, but he set the fire killing himself and almost got Marcus killed. Wendy also reveals that she lied about going to meet the singer they both love and has sold her guitar. Marcus thought Alex and Wendy were working so hard to chase their dreams, but these are just lies. Almost everything Marcus believed in is just built on lies, which really hurts him a lot.

The feeling of losing something you have is probably the worst, because it's hard to get rid of it after possessing for such a long time. On the bright side, Marcus still has time to prepare for the loss of his hearing, rather than being taken right away. Nothing can ever compensate the loss of his hearing, but at least he got to do a fun trip with someone he secretly loves and experienced so many new things he hasn't done before. His experience also inspired Wendy to continue to live her dream.

Though the film starts by telling Marcus is going to be deaf right off the bat, it is still touching to see when he is about to undergo the surgery. It is also heartwarming to see how his family and friends comfort him after his hearing being taken away. He might not be able to hear them again, but he will never be alone in this journey.

I just hope that one day you look at me the same way I look at you.
Some people just have to live normal lives, and that's okay!
Hey, it's me. I know you're probably still mad at me, and, uh... I don't blame you. I really put you through the wringer. I found out about your brother, Marcus. I'm so sorry, dude. I can't imagine how much that hurts. But, um, don't let this change him for you. I feel like we grow up and people are always... saying that, no matter what, everything will work out in the end. But I don't know. Like, isn't it way more complicated than that? I can't tell you how to live with your memories of Alex, but, God, Marcus, I hope you find a way. I hope you can learn to love him for who he really was and not who you imagined him to be. Though you do imagine people to be pretty great. I got Darling back.
I don't know, watching people listen to it will be the next best thing to hearing it again.
